Understanding the Results

Preflop Equity Examples

  • Pocket Aces (AA) vs. Random Hand: 85% vs 15%. This is the strongest position in poker.
  • Coin Flip (AK vs QQ): ~43% vs ~57%. This is a classic race scenario.
  • Dominated Hand (AK vs AQ): ~74% vs ~26%. The AQ is in big trouble because the King “dominates” the Queen.

Postflop Math

Once the Flop hits, equities change drastically. If you have a Flush Draw (4 cards to a flush), you generally have about a 36% chance of hitting it by the River. Use the calculator to see if your “Pot Odds” justify a call.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How accurate is this calculator?

This tool runs a Monte Carlo simulation (approx. 2000 iterations per click). This provides accuracy within +/- 1%, which is more than enough for strategic decision-making. It accounts for “dead cards” (cards already held by other players) automatically.

What is “Equity”?

Equity is your rightful share of the pot. If the pot is $100 and the calculator says you have 75% Win probability, your “Equity” is $75. If you can call a bet for less than your equity gained, it is a profitable play.

Can I calculate odds for Omaha?

This specific tool is designed for Texas Hold’em. Omaha requires a different logic because players hold 4 cards and must use exactly 2 of them. Please check our menu for the Omaha calculator (coming soon).
